On The Rocks
Costumes for performances by Lucie Tuma at Gessnerallee, Zurich, and Sudpol, Luzern (2016)
On The Rocks is a time-based sculpture consisting of hybrid materials that produce a planet that we may recognize without ever having been there. Lucie Tuma & Co. invite the audience to a megalomaniac festivity with the concept of being alone together. Dances along the themes of the “Volkskörper," pyramidic gymnastic routines, and ancestral and futuristic dances are the starting point for Claudia Hill’s costume design. The costumes are named after some of the dances such as “Dance of the Capricorn,” “At the Bottom of a Mountain Lake,” “Spirits of the Deep Dark Valley,” “Still Walking Forever,” and “Cloud Nice Oh Thunder Dance.”
